This has been supplemented by a donation of three guineas from the Company, and the whole amount has been equally divided between the two institutions mentioned.

On Thursday a serious accident befel Mr. Wm. Hill B.Sc., younger son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Hill, Market Street, as a result of which he now lies in Nottingham Hospital suffering from concussion and injuries to the head. The patient, who is science master at High Pavement School, Nottingham, was motor cycling in the city when he came into collision with a motor car, and was taken to hospital in an unconscious condition. His mother spent the same night near at hand, and his friends have been in constant communications with the hospital since. On Tuesday Mr. Hill regained consciousness and was slightly better, but his condition still gives rise for anxiety. He belongs to a family of well known Parish Church members and was himself a member of the choir for many years, and on his occasional week-ends at home has filled his old place in the choir. Prayers were offered on behalf of the sufferer in the Parish Church on Sunday evening, and very sympathetic enquiries have been made by the Brunts School Mansfield, where Mr. Hill was head boy before proceeding to Nottingham University. He is 25 years of age.

HUTHWAITE.

Mrs. F. Grierson, of Sutton Road, a well-known worker in Parish Church affairs, and president of the Mothers' Union, has been undergoing treatment in a Nottingham nursing home for a poisoned hand. Many people will be concerned to hear of her disability and will hope that it may speedily and completely disappear.

On Monday evening a whist drive, organised by the Huthwaite Branch of the Women's Unionist Association, was held in the Common Road Schools. The M.C. was Miss E. Farnsworth, and the prizes were won by Mrs. H. Ensor and Mrs. J.R. Wright. The refreshments were supervised by Mesdames Dinsdale and Simpson, and Misses Farnsworth preceded the whist drive, when the following appointments were made: Chairman, Mrs. L. Hill; Secretary, Mrs. H.A. Simpson; Treasurers, Miss Farnsworth and Miss Searson; Delegate, Mrs. W. Brunt, senior. The office of president, which has been held for some time by Mrs. Irvine, but who has resigned, was left open in the hope that she may be induced to accept it again.

On Monday evening an entertainment with several novel features was given by the Sherwood Street Methodists in aid of the Church Renovation and New Organ Fund. There was a very good audience, over which Councillor J. Davis, J.P., presided, and a diverting programme was provided by Messrs. T. Burton (violin), Mrs. J.R. Purseglove (soprano), and Miss Moore (contralto). A good deal of interest was aroused by two sketches ... in which some of the parts were taken by church members, who had never previously sought this form of publicity, but made a great success of it. A very satisfactory sum was raised for the objects stated and all the artistes gave an exceedingly good display.

The Sunday School anniversary services at Sherwood Street on Sunday were invested with great interest. Excellent addresses were given, and the children made a very pleasing display in their various departments, special hymns and recitations being rendered in capital style. The organist was Miss Hilda Hawley, and the conductor Mr. N. Evans. The preacher was Mr. J. Boothby (South Normanton), who gave an address to the children in the afternoon on "Clean Hands," which proved to be very interesting. The subject at the evening service wa the prophet Elisha, and the Shulamitish woman. There were good congregations at both services, and collections were taken on behalf of the Sunday School funds. Besides the hymns by the children, the following programme of recitations was given, for which the scholars had been trained by Miss Annie Baxter:- Jean Hardy; Mary Cooper; Eric Wilson; Joan Allen; Jean Stringfellow; Laurence Needham; Kathleen Kirk; Lois Neal; Betty Lincoln; Joan Simmonds; Kenneth Young; Madge Purseglove; Ivy Collins; Tommy Hardwick; and Kathleen Kirk.

FOOTBALL NOTES AND NEWS
CUP-SEMI-FINAL RE-PLAY.
STILL UNDECIDED.

HUTHWAITE C.W.S AND MANSFIELD INVICTA TO MEET A THIRD TIME.

Another gruelling game between Huthwaite C.W.S. and Mansfield Invicta in the above semi-final took place on the Mansfield Victoria Sports Ground before a large crowd on Saturday, when, after playing extra time, the score sheet was blank and the teams will thus have to meet again for a third time.
Both teams were at full strength and some good football was witnessed but was marred at intervals by a strong cross wind. The early exchanges were very equal, both teams striving for the lead. Throughout the half exchanges continued to be evenly contested and half-time arrived with no score.
On resuming C.W.S. had the advantage of not having to face the sun, and although they pressed vigorously for some time they failed to penetrate the Invicta defence. At full time there was still no score, and although extra time wa played neither side could find the net and the issue still remains to be decided. Teams:-
Huthwaite C.W.S.- Mills; Booth and Dallison; Hassall, Pegg and Oliver; Walters, Brunt, Briggs, Saxton and Jones.
