Locating and Mapping Huthwaite

Adding historic references through this Huthwaite mapping gallery may direct visitors into these village roads. Although name Huthwaite can also globally recognise family and businesses, as far known it remains a unique address just for our locality.   Interesting to learn if anyone can truly prove otherwise.

Centrally situated in England, part of a UK electoral Sutton West Ward in Ashfield
District of Nottinghamshire, Huthwaite uniquely features the highest natural
land point in this Midlands county. Overlooking adjacent rural Derbyshire
here once edged vast far west coverage of the infamous Sherwood Forests.
Around our high hill spur, a woodland clearing descriptively offering
name founded early settlement.
Gradually building a secondary
villa called Hucknall Huthwaite sharing historic ties inside more
ancient Sutton Parish boundaries. Rule from Mansfield Manor extended
into other neigbbouring rural areas offering some industrial support as
needs spread across Great Britain. Advancing under revolutionary steam
powers a coal mining township called then Hucknall-under-Huthwaite finally
did prosper after introducing modern mining techniques. Recalling our past
heritage after being renamed Huthwaite, today recognises far greater residential
populations during redevelopment of landscapes accessible by A38 and M1 motorways.

Earliest known map to expose Huthwaite in detail dates from Sandersons magnificent 1835 surveys. Developments appeared by 1884 coverage, prior New Hucknall Colliery inviting fastest growth into a prosperous mining village. Huthwaites Urban District plans reveal modern 1917 and 1921 developments firmly established by my own Street Plans dated circa 1980. Satellite images continue mapping latest millenium regeneration online achieving fantastic accuracy. The Huthwaite Online street index simply identifies named areas, but also links photo galleries comparing past with present scenic changes.
