Huthwaite Restaurants

Our traditional home cooked Sunday dinner invited family carving out the roast beef. Serving Yorkshire pudding with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables typically followed by fruit pie. This set common expectations in visiting any local restaurant, where menus usually topped at best steak. Diners from Huthwaite who sought ever increasing variety were only limited by distance, so easily found elsewhere.

As far as I recall, the first restaurant opened in Huthwaite was the Woodend Inn. Building extensions onto side this existing public house added larger kitchen with tabled dining areas. Dating coincided by also modernising all outside toilets, appropriately resiting cleanest family facilities inside. Other pubs in Huthwaite later gained similar transformations, the White Lion and Miners Arms claiming past but notable periods of restaurant and carvery success, beyond short tries by all at simpler pub lunches.

Whilst Chinese, Greek, Indian, Italian and American influences joined our traditional Fish & Chip shops in busier town restaurants at Sutton-in-Ashfield and around Mansfield nightclubs, this widening choice into fast food filtered through Huthwaite pub meals showing only one alternative dining out experience. Established 1990, the Huthwaite Tandoori Restaurant keeps wide repute after adopting British favour.
